Winter Time Saving
Winter Time Saving
Winter typically is a slow time in the moving truck rental business.
People in the largest portion of the country are prone not to move during the
winter because of the cold and sometimes inclement weather. More over
the moves that do take place during winter months often gravitate toward
warmer regions of the country.
Because of these factors rental truck companies characteristically have
two things happen. The first thing that happens which by the way
precipitates the second, is that they end up with a glut of
equipment in those winter time destinations. Because of the
seasonal typical snowbird moving phenomenon a great deal of their trucks and
trailers and other moving equipment builds up in places like Florida, California and other southern destinations.
This has gone one for years and rental companies have developed a mechanism
to help offset the cost of having to manually relocate the equipment to other
areas of the country.
Which leads us the the second characteristically
typical thing that happens. Deep winter time moving truck rental
discounts. In an effort to offset the cost of having to pay company employees
to move the equipment, not to mention footing the cost of fuel to do so,
companies offer Large discounts to prompt people to consider moving during
the off winter month from those areas of equipment glut.
Companies like and Ryder figured out long ago that it was much more
cost effective to rent those trucks and equipment at very low rates back into
those areas where soon they will be needed, then to spend the money to have
them moved at company expense.
Sure they make a smaller profit, but at least they don't
loose money in the transfer process. That kind of expenditure happens
all too often for these kinds of companies.
So it becomes a win win situation. Cheaper rates
for the customer who just might be considering a move from one of these
popular winter time destinations and reduced operational costs for the rental
truck companies.
So if there is a move in your future, check out the seasonal flow of
equipment. Sometimes its
worth moving in the winter because of the almost unbelievable savings. even if you have to go a bit out of your way to either do
the initial rental or the final drop off.
